As the centre of Books, Writing and Ideas, we are host to some fantastic arts and culture organisations within our walls.

Within the Wheeler Centre building on Lonsdale Street lives Australian Poetry, Blak & Bright, Melbourne City of Literature Office, Emerging Writers’ Festival, Express Media, Melbourne Writers Festival, PEN Melbourne, the Small Press Network and Writers Victoria. Beneath the Wheeler Centre you can enjoy a European culinary escape at Italian inspired restaurant The Moat.

Emerging Writers’ Festival 

Emerging Writers’ Festival turns 20! From 14 June to 24 June, EWF returns across Melbourne, online and interstate! With events suiting all literary tastes and fitting into anyone’s budget, check out their full program and be part of celebrating EWF’s twentieth birthday.

 

Express Media

Join the Express Media team at Cafe Gummo 7pm, Saturday 17 June to celebrate Voiceworks’ 35th birthday and the launch of issue #129 ‘Static’.

This special launch event will feature contributors from this amazing issue, and a pop-up library of past Voiceworks issues, ranging from the zine punk 90s to the Frankie-fied 2010s. 

 

 

PEN Melbourne

Read the latest news from PEN Melbourne including an update regarding writer, human rights defender, Nobel Peace Prize winner and PEN member Ales Bialiatski who has received support in a letter signed by over 100 Nobel Laureates in his conflict with Belarusian authorities.

 

Writers Victoria

Writers Victoria’s Season 2 Program has officially launched! Presented by some of the best writers in Australia, their latest program is designed to inspire and educate. The Wheeler Centre

We are hiring a new Head of Marketing and Engagement. The Head of Marketing and Engagement has overall responsibility for the Wheeler Centre’s strategic marketing, digital, communications, audience engagement and customer experience programs. This role is suitable for a strategic marketer, gifted communicator, inspiring leader and relationship builder with a passion for the arts.
