Books and Ideas at Montalto
In this regional events series, we transport a taste of the best Australian writing from the city to the coast. Enjoy wonderful guests, good conversation and great food and wine.
Double Booked Club
For each of these monthly lunchtime sessions, we’ll bring together two great local fiction authors to discuss their work. They'll start with a chat about their latest books, before meandering off into conversation about backlists, shared themes and literary heroes.
Group Texts is a new Wheeler Centre mini-series spotlighting excellent Australian genre writers. Each season, we'll zero in on a different category of popular fiction. Hear reflections and provocations on key issues and ideas about your favourite genre. Romance junkies, fantasy freaks, crime fiends, YA addicts – these talks are for you.
An alchemy of writers. An explosion of ideas. This May, take your brain out for a spin. You’ll meet Pulitzer-winners, YA stars, eminent historians, poets, rappers and some of the world’s best living novelists.
In partnership with Archer magazine, we’re presenting a series of events throughout 2019 which will explore sexuality, gender and identity – with an emphasis on the lesser-heard perspectives for which the magazine is known.
So What If …
Swing by the Wheeler Centre in May for a series of lunchtime talks about the future. In partnership with Melbourne Knowledge Week, we’ll ask: what's broken, what's working, and what should we leave behind?
The Fifth Estate
Sally Warhaft hosts a dizzying array of guests from the worlds of politics, culture, international relations and beyond, in a witty and revealing analysis of current affairs.
The Next Big Thing
Our long-running Next Big Thing series is our showcase for great new local talent. You’ll hear emerging writers reading from bold and adventurous work. Enjoy a delicious drink and a bite to eat at the Moat, while your future favourite authors knock your socks off.
