Dr. Kaya Wilson is a writer and tsunami specialist with over 10 years experience in ocean science. His day job is about keeping us safe from natural disasters like tsunamis and cyclones and his writing explores themes of queer identity, gender, and origin. Sometimes the science and the art come together with exciting events for the Wheeler Centre.

Kaya’s work has been published widely by The Guardian, Nature, Pan Macmillan, Griffith Review, and more. He was the winner of the of the 2019 Writing NSW Varuna Fellowship, where he completed his first book, As Beautiful As Any Other.
