Lauren Mullings

About

Lauren Mullings is a writer and multi-disciplinary artist of Afro-Caribbean descent. She migrated to Melbourne from the UK with her British-Australian mother and Jamaican father, Winston, whom she has written about in a short memoir by the same name. Her work ranges from fiction, to critical contributions examining music, culture, food and The Arts, the latter in which she has worked for over twenty years. Her most recent work explores speculative fiction, examining themes of cultural reciprocity, displacement, joy, relationships and the subtleties of power. She is a contributor to Growing Up African in Australia edited by Maxine Beneba Clarke and mentee of the THIS IS WHO WE ARE (TIWWA) UK-Australian movement of intergenerational & intersectional women Creatives of Colour, led by Kath Melbourne and Melanie Abrahams.
