Bendigo Writers Festival: Lunch with Ita Buttrose

Introduced by Bendigo businesswoman Margot Spalding, Ita Buttrose will talk about her amazing life, as a warm-up to her keynote address.

Hosted in the Sculpture Annex of the Bendigo Art Gallery, chef Renzo Panozzo will prepare a two-course lunch, with a glass of wine and tea or coffee included.

Ita Buttrose

Ita Buttrose became the first woman to ever edit a major metropolitan newspaper in Australia when she was appointed editor-in-chief of News Limited‘s Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph. She later became Editor-in-Chief of Fairfax Media’s Sun-Herald, having worked as a senior feature writer on Fairfax’s now defunct Sun newspaper and as publishing consultant to Fairfax magazines.

She launched ITA magazine for The Woman Who Wasn’t Born Yesterday, and hosted prime-time radio shows for Sydney’s 2UE, 2KY and 2UE. She is the author of 11 books.

On the Road

We can’t wait to get back on the road again – bringing some of our favourite writers to regional Victoria. We’ll be packing up the car with books and authors, travelling from country to coast … and making sure Melbourne doesn’t get all the literary fun.
