The Last Tuesday Society: Alternate Endings
The Last Tuesday Society is an anarchic, absurd artist collective who come together regularly to present events of short performances and more.
In a madcap outing with a distinctly literary flavour, Last Tuesday is teaming with the Wheeler Centre to imagine what might have happened differently in various well-known situations: factual and fictional.
Our guests take liberties with the facts as they weave their own fictional endings, in song, sketch and story. With Bron Batten, Richard Higgins, Tina Del Twist, Josh Ladgrove, Laura Jean McKay, Joel Tito and Laura Davis.
Richard Higgins is a comedy writer and performer. He is one half of comedy duo The Listies, with Matt Kelly. The most recent show they made was called 'Hamlet: Prince of Skidmark' to the dismay of English teachers throughout Australia.
Bron Batten is a Melbourne based theatre-maker and performer. She has worked with artists such as post, My Darling Patricia, The Sisters Grimm and Willoh S. Weiland and companies like The Malthouse, Arts House, Performance Space, Vitalstatistix and Arts Centre Melbourne.
Laura Jean McKay is the author of Holiday in Cambodia (Black Inc. July 2013), which was shortlisted for the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards. Her writing has been published in Best Australian Stories, Sleepers Almanac, the Big Issue, Women of Letters and The Lifted Brow.
Truly unique, Tina Del Twist is Australia’s much-loved nightingale, known for her ‘beautiful voice and wicked sense of comic timing’ (the Age). With a voice as smooth as honey, a comedic wit that could shred brie, and backed by a guitar maestro Stephen Weir, you’ll have a ball enjoying the talents of Tina Del Twist.
Josh Ladgrove (aka Dr Professor Neal Portenza, aka Jesus Christ) is a Melbourne-based comedian and clown. He recently performed four separate shows in the Melbourne Fringe Festival and has toured nationally and internationally with his interactive improvised performance Come Heckle Christ.
Joel Tito is a Gaulier-trained clown and comedian. A founding member of the critically acclaimed comedy collective Vigilantelope, Joel was a was a recipient of a Moosehead award for his solo show The Trial and Death of Socrates (No Relation).
