Sarah Schwartz

Sarah Schwartz is a human rights lawyer and co-founding Executive Officer of the Jewish Council of Australia, a Jewish organisation committed to antiracism and Palestinian human rights. She is a Legal Director at the Human Rights Law Centre and a Lecturer at Melbourne University Law School. She has represented clients in the areas of police accountability, the rights of people in prison and coronial inquests into Aboriginal deaths in custody. Sarah received a John Monash Scholarship in 2019 to study a Master of Laws at Harvard University focused on racism and mass incarceration. She has written widely for publications including The Age, The Guardian, Crikey, Overland and academic journals.
