Omar El Akkad joins Antoinette Lattouf at Queenscliffe Literary Festival to discuss One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This – his searing indictment of Western hypocrisy and a bold reckoning with the collapse of its moral narrative.

Antoinette Lattouf
Antoinette Lattouf is a journalist, author, presenter and human rights advocate known for her fearless storytelling, sharp insights and dry wit. With a career spanning commercial and public broadcasters, she’s reported and presented for Network Ten, ABC, SBS, triple j, Southern Cross Austereo and written opinion columns for major publications. Named one of the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence, she’s also a TEDx speaker, mental health ambassador, and co-founder of Media Diversity Australia—an organisation pushing for fairer, more inclusive newsrooms.
Her work has earned her a long list of accolades, including Walkley recognition, a United Nations Media Award, multiple human rights and leadership honours, and a Women in Media award for best Champion of Change.
But Antoinette is most proud of occasionally receiving the ultimate prize: the grudging approval of her two daughters—usually in the form of a head nod or permission to dance in public (within reason).
