LOCATION

The Union Theatre is located on Level 2 & 3 of the Arts & Cultural Building, 159 Monash Road at the University of Melbourne Parkville campus. There are two main entrance points onto the campus from Swanston St – either down Monash Road (Gate 4) or via the Amphitheatre closer to Grattan St (Gate 6). It is approximately 100m from either gate to the Arts & Cultural Building.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Catch any Swanston St tram to Stop 1 – Melbourne University tram stop to enter the campus via Monash Road (Gate 4) or the Amphitheatre (Gate 6).

Visit Public Transport Victoria for journey planning and MYKI ticket information. Please note, the University of Melbourne Parkville campus is not within the Free Tram Zone.

 

PARKING

The Eastern Precinct Car Park at 375 Cardigan Street, Carlton, near the corner of Elgin Street is an approximate 5-minute walk from the venue, with access across Swanston St via the Elgin St footbridge. Click here for a map.

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 6am to midnight

Fees: On weekdays, $12.50 for 4 hours, $25.00 for all day and $10.00 after 5:00pm, weekends and public holidays.

Payment: Scan your debit or credit card to enter the carpark. Upon exit, the boom gate will indicate the amount owing and pay with your debit or credit card at the gate. You cannot pay with cash at this location.

Ace Parking has two locations within walking distance to the Arts & Cultural Building. The 265 Faraday St car park is opposite Gate 4 over Swanston St, while the Cardigan House Car Park is located on 96 Grattan St, one block from the University campus.

ACCESSIBLE ENTRY

There are two main entrance points to the Arts and Cultural Building from Swanston St – either walk down Monash Road (Gate 4) or enter via the Amphitheatre closer to Grattan St (Gate 6). Both entries are wheelchair accessible. The Amphitheatre features small cobblestones.

The Union Theatre and the Guild Theatre are on Level 2 & 3 both accessible via lift.

 

ACCESSIBLE PARKING & DROP OFF

Guests can be dropped off and picked up by taxi, ride-share or personal vehicle at the circular Gate 4 entrance at top of Monash Rd off Swanston St with a 40m distance to main door of building.

There are limited accessible drop off parking spaces available at the Gate 4 entrance for a 15-minute time period. Longer-term Accessible parking is available across Swanston St on Faraday St and within the Ace Parking carpark also on Faraday St.

 

BICYCLES

The University encourages cycling as a mode of transport and is always developing their campuses with bicycle facilities in mind. A large proportion of bicycle racks on campus are checked by security and covered by CCTV.

There are a number of bicycle lock up racks directly opposite the Arts & Cultural Building entrance on Monash Road.

LIFTS AND ESCALATORS

Two lifts offer access to all levels of the Arts & Cultural Building. One-way escalator access is also available between floors.

 

ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS

Toilets are located on all four floors of the Arts & Cultural Building. Accessible bathrooms are available on all levels. All-Gender Bathrooms can be found on Levels 2 and 3.

Baby change facilities are available at the Ground Level bathrooms.

 

WHEELCHAIRS

Wheelchair accessible spaces are located in Stalls Row F and Dress Circle Row C, all with Companion seating available.

 

GUIDE DOGS

Guide Dogs and registered assistance animals are welcome throughout the Arts & Cultural Building.

 

HEARING LOOPS

Hearing assist system with infrared pendants available for collection from the Box Office.
