Vidya Rajan

Vidya Rajan is an award-winning writer for screen and stage, performance-maker and comedian. She has a Masters in Writing (VCA) and has been a recipient of the Wheeler Centre’s Hot Desk Fellowship, Melbourne Festival’s Director’s Lab Program and Screen Australia’s Developing the Developer Initiative.
She has recently worked as a writer and performer on projects for ABC Comedy, SBS, Red Stitch, Artshouse, Audible, Griffin Theatre, Belvoir, Malthouse, and The Blue Room. Her work has also appeared in APJ, McSweeney’s, Liminal, Cordite and Running Dog amongst others.
She is a former writer-in-residence at the Malthouse Theatre, and is currently under commission on a number of screen, stage, and digital projects. Her work is often described as formally adventurous and interested in the slipperiness of self and identity within systems and the connections we form across margins. Before working in the arts full-time, she also trained as a community and criminal lawyer.
