Vern Field

In the 1990s Vern Field abandoned a PhD in English Literature to study editing and publishing at RMIT. Since then, Vern has been working in and around writing and editing in educational and commercial publishing in Victoria, and has held communications roles in scientific, technical and corporate organisations in Tasmania. She has taught writing and editing at Deakin University and at a number of TAFE colleges around Melbourne. In January 2016, she joined Island as its new part-time managing editor based in Hobart.
