Saya Aziz

Saya Aziz

Dr Saya Aziz calls herself a ‘citizen of the world’. Born in Iraqi Kurdistan, she spent her formative years there before relocating to the UK, where she later completed medical school. She later trained in anaesthetics in Australia. Speaking to others gave her the courage to go to Gaza, but nothing prepared her for the apocalyptic hellscape that is Gaza during a genocide. She writes not as a politician, but as a mother of small children and a doctor who held the hand of the dying in a concentration camp. She believes no medical professional will ever witness anything like it again.
