Nouria Salehi

About

Dr Nouria Salehi, OAM, is Senior Victorian of the Year 2012 and the executive director of the Afghan Australian Development Organisation. A passionate advocate for women’s rights and the provision of education in Afghanistan, Dr Salehi spent many years privately assisting Afghans to settle in Australia and raising funds to help individuals and families in Afghanistan, before formally establishing the AADO in 2002.

The Afghan Australian Development Organisation provides community development assistance and emergency relief aid to the people of Afghanistan and assists in the resettlement of Afghan migrants in Australia.

Dr Salehi is a biophysicist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and was awarded the Victorian Senior Australian of the Year award in 2012 for her medical achievements and her voluntary efforts in Australia and in her homeland, Afghanistan.
