Meena Singh

Meena Singh is a Yorta Yorta and Indian woman, born, raised and living on the lands of the Kulin Nation. She has a background as a lawyer, working in individual and systemic advocacy with Victoria Legal Aid, the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service and the Human Rights Law Centre. She also has a passion for education and capacity building and has worked in the vocational education sector and with many not-for-profit organisations, particularly in creating culturally safe workplaces. As Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People in Victoria for nearly four years, Meena advocated for the rights of First Nations children and young people in child protection and youth justice as well as leading regulatory practice for culturally safe and anti-racist environments. In early September this year, Meena took up the role of Professor of Practice with the Faculty of Law at Monash University with a focus on clinical legal education.
