Mairi Nicholson is a musician and radio broadcaster. She currently presents Music Makers on ABC Classic FM.
Mairi’s 30-year love-affair with classical music and radio began after she graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, majoring in Piano and Singing. She spent the first decade of her ABC career in Sydney, reading radio news, broadcasting the Sydney Symphony’s concerts, hosting In Tempo (now The Music Show on Radio National) and the Sydney International Piano Competitions.
Since moving to the UK in 1990 and returning later that decade, she’s enjoyed a rich career in music and interview broadcasting, hosting and presenting concerts and programmes for BBC Radio (Radio 3, Radio 4, BBC Proms), ABC Radio National and ABC Classic FM.
