Lilit Thwaites

About

Dr Lilit Zekulin Thwaites is an honorary associate in Spanish at La Trobe University.

She is a former coordinator of the Spanish program, deputy dean of the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, acting director, Academic Language and Learning unit, and chair, University Human Ethics Committee. Her particular interests are the society, cultures and literatures (especially by women writers) of contemporary Spain; notions of identity and (inner) exile; and translating Spanish literature into English.

She presents sessions at writers and film festivals, gives lectures and talks on a range of (mainly Spanish-related) topics, and occasionally participates as a guest commentator on Spanish matters in the media. She is also active in organising visits to Australia by Spanish speaking writers.
