Julia Eccleshare

Julia Eccleshare is the children’s books editor at the Guardian and a freelance writer and critic. In addition to numerous anthologies, her books include A Guide to the Harry Potter Novels and Beatrix Potter to Harry Potter: Portraits of Children’s Writers. She is the editor of 1001 Children’s Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up.

In 2000, she won the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to children’s books. In 2014, she was appointed MBE for service to children’s books and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Worcester.
