Jonathon Welch

About

Jonathon Welch is an (ARIA, Logie and Helpmann) award-winning singer, choral conductor, recording artist, songwriter and producer. Jonathon was founding musical director of the hugely successful ABC TV series Choir of Hard Knocks.

He has performed alongside some of our time’s greatest singers, musicians, directors and conductors, including Dame Joan Sutherland, k.d. Lang, Baz Lurhmann, Graeme Murphy and Richard Bonynge.

For his services to the music industry and commitment to supporting youth music education and the homeless and disadvantaged community in Australia, Jonathon has been awarded Victorian and Australian of the Year Local Hero 2008, an honorary doctorate from Griffith University, Honorary Fellow of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders, Anzac of the Year 2009 and an Order of Australia, also in 2009.
