Jenny Odell is an artist and author of the New York Times bestsellers How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy (2019) and Saving Time: Discovering a Life Beyond the Clock (2023). She has been in an artist in residence at Recology SF (otherwise known as the dump), the Internet Archive, and the San Francisco Planning Department. From 2013 to 2021, she taught digital art at Stanford University. Odell was born and raised in the California Bay Area and is currently based in Oakland.
