Janet Butler

About

Dr Janet Butler is an Honorary Associate in the History Program at La Trobe University, in Melbourne, Australia.

Her research focuses on the experience of the individual at war, as expressed in their own accounts, as a lens on war and change, on the relationship between gender, identity and war, and on the nature of the narratives themselves.

For her research for her book Kitty’s War (published by University of Queensland Press), Janet Butler was awarded the Max Kelly Medal and Ken Inglis Prize. She currently lives in Melbourne with her husband and son in an Edwardian house which was once the home of the third Australian ashore at Gallipoli.
