Jane Martin

About

Jane Martin is executive manager of Alcohol and Obesity Policy at Cancer Council Victoria. She leads the Obesity Policy Coalition: a partnership between Diabetes Australia Victoria, Cancer Council Victoria, the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Obesity Prevention at Deakin University.

The Obesity Policy Coalition advocates for policy and regulatory reform to prevent overweight and obesity, with a focus on food marketing, labelling, and tax and pricing measures.

Jane has worked extensively in public health advocacy for over 25 years, firstly in tobacco control and, since 2006, in obesity prevention – and later, alcohol control. She is involved in a range of research collaborations and is active in the media.

Jane recently returned from a Churchill Fellowship sponsored by the Jack Brockhoff Foundation, travelling to the US and UK for three months. Jane’s interests lie in advocacy, policy oriented research and using evidence informed arguments for reform.
