Dr Bushra Othman

Dr Bushra Othman is a Palestinian Australian General Surgeon from Naarm/Melbourne who is in her final year of colorectal subspecialty training. She has been honoured to complete three medical missions to Gaza over the last two years and was the first Australian Palestinian woman – and Muslim woman – to volunteer as a doctor in Gaza. She is a medical mission coordinator with the Palestinian Australian and New Zealand Medical Association (PANZMA); serves as the Victorian Membership Engagement and Events Lead for the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA); and is a faculty instructor for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and regularly teaches surgical trainees and medical students. In 2025 she was recognised by Flinders University with a Distinguished Alumni Award for her humanitarian work in Gaza, and was the recipient of the 2025 Woman of the Year from the Australian Muslim Achievement Awards.
