David Finnigan

David Finnigan is a playwright and theatre-maker from Canberra. He was 2006 writer-in-residence for Tanghalang Pilipino, the key government-funded theatre company in the Philippines. He has since worked in Manila as a writer, curator and producer, including collaborating with Sipat Lawin on Gobyerno for South Korea’s Festival B:om, Foreignoy for the Arts Centre Melbourne, and Are You Ready for the 2020 AsiaTOPA in Melbourne. David’s scripts have been nominated for every major playwriting award in the country, including the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award, the Patrick White Award and the Max Afford. In 2017 his playscript Kill Climate Deniers was awarded the Griffin Playwrights Award: it has since been produced in more than 10 cities worldwide. David’s solo show You’re Safe Til 2024 was performed at the Sydney Opera House in 2019. David is a Churchill Fellow, an Asialink Arts Fellow and an Australia Council Early Career Fellow.
