Billy Geary

Billy is an ecologist and science communicator with a passion for Australia’s native animals.
Among other things, Billy’s work largely focuses on south-eastern Australia’s fauna. Highlights include investigating the ecophysiology of small mammals and their response to habitat fragmentation and how environmental variation shapes predator-prey interactions.
Billy is a former freelance music journalist, published in a number of print and online magazines. However, Billy is most passionate about telling the stories of Australia’s natural world. Billy has been published in nature magazines such as Biosphere and Australian Wildlife and has presented at events including Biodiveristy Across Borders. Billy is Wild Melbourne’s Assistant Director. He is also currently a Science Adviser for conservation charity Rewilding Australia.
