Angie Cui

Angie Cui (aka Yanting Cui 崔彦婷) is a Melbourne-based Australian author who writes children's books that celebrate family, identity, imagination, and the quiet magic of everyday life.

Born in Harbin, China, Angie moved to Australia at 18 to study accounting at Deakin University before working in banking. After becoming a mother, she found her way to writing.

Her picture books include My Mum is a Bird and Our Map (2025), and The Festival of Ice and Snow (2026), her first bilingual English–Simplified Chinese picture book inspired by her childhood memories of Harbin. My Mum is a Bird was highly commended in the 2026 Victorian Premier's Literary Awards, named a CBCA Notable Book, and has attracted translation interest from Asia and Europe.

Angie's articles have appeared in The Guardian, ABC Lifestyle, SBS, The Sydney Morning Herald, Kidspot, Body+Soul, 9Honey, and CPA Magazine INTHEBLACK. She lives in Melbourne with her husband and two children, drawing on her multicultural family and love of language to create stories in which every child can feel seen.
