Alister Newstead is an author, broadcaster, and music and pop culture reporter for Australian digital radio station Double J and ABC.
Based in Naarm/Melbourne with a career spanning more than 15 years, he is the author of Currents. Part of the esteemed 33⅓ Oceania series and named after Tame Impala's 2015 album of the same name, the book examines its context, creation, influential contents and lasting impact on the history of Australian popular music.
Alister was previously the long-term music editor and news reporter for triple j. He is also a sometimes musician (as one half of Quiet Coven), full time physical media addict and part-time duffer.
