[Read] Hot Desk Extracts: Xiaole Zhan - Arcadiana

As part of The Wheeler Centre Fellowship program, Xiaole Zhan worked on an essay-memoir exploring how when she was fourteen her mother encouraged her to start volunteering in the community to build character. Unbeknownst to Xiaole, she had talked to the directors of the local church where she took piano lessons and Xiaole found myself teaching Sunday school without having ever attended Sunday school. Xiaole's performance at the EWF Launch Night excerpts this piece titled ‘Arcadiana’ which explores the fine line between myths, stories, lies and family secrets growing up in a mixed Chinese-Pakeha family.
