It’s been a busy week for Wheeler Centre presenter Fiona McGregor. An exhibition of her performance work ‘Vertigo’ opened at Sydney gallery MOP. And on Monday, she’s up for an Indie Book Award in the fiction category for her novel Indelible Ink. She writes about the book here.
Another past Wheeler Centre presenter, Chris Womersley, is also nominated for his novel Bereft. Other nominees for the fiction category are Roger McDonald and Kim Scott.
The awards are presented by the Australian Independent Bookseller. Nominees in the non-fiction category are The Happiest Refugee by Anh Do, How to Make Gravy by Paul Kelly, The Well at the World’s End by A.J.Mackinnon, and Street Fight in Naples by Peter Robb. Debut novelists Jon Bauer, Tess Evans, Kirsten Tranter and P.M.Newton are nominated in the best debut novel category, and competing for best children’s book are authors Lian Tanner, Jeannie Baker, Andy Griffiths and Graeme Base. We congratulate all the nominees.
Fiona is one of several presenters for our March 1 event, The Only Gay Book in the Village, as part of our Big Gay Week.
