In another sign that the digital book market is maturing, it now has its own industry awards. The Bookseller has launched the FutureBooks ‘digital innovation’ awards. According to their website, they’re “the first of their kind to recognise how the trade is embracing the future with new products, new ways of working, and new marketing strategies”.
Award categories include Best Website, Best Use of Social Media and - somewhat more of a mouthful - Best Workflow Innovation. Entries are open to anyone anywhere in the world until February 18 and announced shortly after. All category winners compete for The Bookseller’s Digital Innovation award, announced in May. With the emergence of the e-book in 2010, these awards may well be the first of many more.
