The public funding of private education is currently being played out in the public sphere, with a major report due to be delivered to the federal government at the end of the year recommending changes to the current funding model.
Here’s the video of our recent Intelligence Squared debate on the issue. The debate featured lively arguments on both sides, including two accomplished performances by two high school debaters, Beatrice Duong and Andrew Elder. Speakers debated the motion, ‘That public funding of private education is unconscionable’, in a traditional Oxford-style of debate - a hallmark of all our Intelligence Squared debates.
The next Intelligence Squared event will debate the motion, ‘There is no justification for risking Australian lives in Afghanistan’, at the Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday, July 28.
