Former US President George W Bush can’t seem to stop making gaffes as the Huffington Post has found that “finding lifted passages in Bush’s book is like an Easter egg hunt”.
Bush’s Decision Points was condemned as “a mash-up of worn-out anecdotes from previously published memoirs written by his subordinates, from which Bush lifts quotes word for word, passing them off as his own recollections”.
But it’s not just Bush staffers. The Huffington Post also features word for word “recollections” from Bush that are strikingly similar to those of Pullitzer Prize-winning journalist Bob Woodward, famous for breaking the Watergate case in All The President’s Men.
While political memoirs usually offer an insider’s view that key players were unable to reveal while in office, the Huffington Post concludes that Bush’s memoir “illuminate[s] something shallower and less surprising about Bush’s character: He’s too lazy to write his own memoir.
