About the Event
Margret RoadKnight has been a hero of the Australian music scene for decades, spanning genres from blues to folk to jazz. At this special event she will celebrate her 80th birthday and 60th year as a performer with the launch of her new album LONG TIME… via Chapter Music. Covering 1988 to 2023, this new album of recordings curates the second act of her storied career into a compelling collection.
Best known for her 1976 top 40 hit ‘Girls In Our Town’, Margret played her first show in 1963 at the Emerald Hill Theatre at the invitation of folk icon Glen Tomasetti. In the ‘70s and early ‘80s, Margret released a series of acclaimed albums mostly via Festival Records, and toured the world numerous times, often representing Australia. She has shared stages with impressive performers like Judy Bailey, Phil Manning, Jeannie Lewis and Judy Jacques. In 2018 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the inaugural Australian Women In Music Awards.
Presented in partnership with Chapter Music. The event will be hosted by Chapter Music co-founder Guy Blackman.
