About the Event

Fern Brady, one of the UK’s most exciting stand-ups, comes to The Wheeler Centre to discuss her bestselling book Strong Female Character as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Hosted by Australian stand-up comedian and writer Laura Davis, this event promises to be an insightful and funny look at Fern’s writing process. For one night only, Brady will be in conversation to discuss everything from her Catholic upbringing to her experience of homelessness and her late diagnosis of autism. Released in paperback this February, Brady’s debut book made the Sunday Times Bestseller list, was named one of The Times’ 2023 Books of the Year, Apple’s Best Audiobook of 2023 and Audible Book of the Year. Having recently graced the small screen in Taskmaster UK and The Last Leg, Brady will also share her raw and honest stories with audiences across Australia in her new touring show I Gave You Milk To Drink.   Presented in partnership with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
