Infused with classical influences, award-winning poet Amy Crutchfield’s debut collection, The Cyprian, explores the joy and heartbreak of love.
Magdalena McGuire’s story collection Born for You shines a light on the highs and lows of the domestic sphere, and the ways motherhood forces people to reinvent themselves.
Ilona Mutuku's Voiceworks piece, 'To Live in a Virtual World', is about finding community and home in video games.
I’d Rather Not is a collection of wayward autobiographical tales that traverse the adventures and misadventures of writer Robert Skinner.

The Next Big Thing
The Next Big Thing takes place every month at the Moat and is a cherished Melbourne institution. It’s the place to be if you want to hear great emerging writers read from new and adventurous work.

Amy Crutchfield
Amy Crutchfield is a poet based in Melbourne/Naarm. Her poetry has been published in Australia, the UK and Ireland in journals including the Australian Poetry Journal, The Poetry Review, PN Review and Poetry Ireland Review. She was a resident at the Vermont Studio Center and won the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize in 2020/21. She studied Classics and Law at the University of Melbourne. The Cyprian (Giramondo) is her first book.

Magdalena McGuire
Magdalena McGuire was born in Poland, raised in tropical Darwin, and now lives in Melbourne. She has won, and been nominated for, various writing awards, including the Mslexia short fiction competition, judged by one of her writing heroes, Deborah Levy. Her fiction has been published widely, including in Overland, Island and The Big Issue. Her short story collection, Born for You, is published by Ultimo Press.

Ilona Mutuku
Ilona Mutuku is a writer of both non-fiction and fiction. Her work delves into the fascinating intersections of science, culture, and art. In 2021, Ilona participated in Express Media's toolkit development program, which provided valuable opportunities for her personal and literary growth. Recently, she celebrated publishing her essay, 'To Live in a Virtual World,' in Voiceworks.
In addition to her writing endeavours, Ilona is currently in her final year as an engineering honours student at RMIT University.

Robert Skinner
Robert Skinner was born and raised on the Adelaide Plains. His writing appears frequently in The Monthly, and has also been featured in The Best Australian Essays, Best Australian Comedy Writing and Internazionale. He currently lives in Melbourne, where he works in a bookshop and plays football at the lowest level.
