The Next Big Thing takes place every month at the Moat and is a cherished Melbourne institution. Join us for an evening of readings from some of the brightest writers in this special edition, part of the Emerging Writers’ Festival.

Come join us at the Moat as we spotlight exciting new writers to watch, at our annual Emerging Writers’ Festival edition of Next Big Thing. You’ll hear fiction and non-fiction readings from some of the most exciting emerging literary stars, Akuch Kuol Anyieth, Katerina Gibson, Eda Gunaydin and Genevieve Novak, as well as outgoing editor of Voiceworks, Adalya Nash Hussein.  

Presented in partnership with Emerging Writers' Festival.

The Moat Café and Bar is on the ground floor of the Wheeler Centre building but is only accessible by stairs without arrangement. If you need to use the lift access, please come to the Wheeler Centre foyer and ask a Wheeler Centre staff member to swipe you down to the Moat in the lift.
