Set across present-day Melbourne, 1970s India and a not-too-distant future where climate change has ravaged both landscape and human hope, In Moonland is a portrait of one family across three generations, all grappling with their own mortality. This second novel from Melbourne writer Miles Allinson (Fever of Animals) has been praised by Helen Garner for its 'curious daring beauty’.
Exploring their individual struggles for meaning, as well as the reverberating effects of family bonds, In Moonland has been chosen as the September book in the 2021 Melbourne City Reads initiative supported by inner-city bookshops.
Allinson will join Toni Jordan to discuss the novel’s themes: filial love, utopian aspiration and environmental threat.

Miles Allinson is a writer, an artist and the author of the multi award-winning novel Fever of Animals. He lives in Melbourne.
Toni Jordan
Toni Jordan is the author of six novels including the international best-seller Addition, Nine Days, which was awarded Best Fiction at the 2012 Indie Awards, and Our Tiny, Useless Hearts (2016), which was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award and for the Voss Literary Award. Toni holds a bachelor of science and a PhD in creative arts. Her most recent novel is Dinner with the Schnabels (2022).
