Are you a 'cHEwY gum gum', looking for ways to bring your wildest story ideas to life? Look no further! Children’s book author Oliver Phommavanh is here to help, with a unique writing workshop that’ll help you dream up colourful characters, sticky storylines and more.
Phommavanh is the author of celebrated books for kids, including Thai-riffic!, the Stuff Happens series, The Other Christy and Super Con-nerd. He’s also a stand-up comedian for adults.
His kids’ writing workshops are loved for their emphasis on humour and creativity, and this session will be no exception. Best suited to children aged 8 to 12 years old, of all writing abilities.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while participating in Wheeler Kids events.

Oliver Phommavanh
Oliver is a young Thai-Australian writer for children. He has featured on panels at the Sydney Writers' Festival among many other appearances at festivals and writing events, as well as in blogs. He has worked as a primary school teacher and now spends his time writing – and sharing his passion for storytelling with kids and engaging them with humour.
He's also a stand-up comedian and has appeared on national TV and radio, as well as at a number of well-known comedy venues including the Comedy Store in Sydney. His first book, Thai-riffic!, was published to critical acclaim, followed by Con-nerd, Punchlines, Thai-no-mite and Ethan in the Stuff Happens series in 2015, The Other Christy and, most recently, Super Con-nerd.
