Margaret Simons
Margaret Simons is Associate Professor in the School of Media, Film and Journalism, Monash University. In 2015, she won the Walkley Award for Social Equity Journalism. Her recent books include Six Square Metres, Self-Made Man: The Kerry Stokes Story, What's Next in Journalism?, Journalism at the Crossroads and Malcolm Fraser: The Political Memoirs, co-written with former Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Fraser. The latter won both the Book of the Year and the Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-Fiction at the NSW Premier's Literary Awards 2011.
In addition to her academic work, Margaret regularly writes for the Saturday Paper, the Age, the Sydney Morning Herald, Griffith Review, the Monthly and other publications.
Katharine Murphy
Katharine Murphy is Guardian Australia's political editor. She has worked in Canberra's parliamentary gallery for 15 years.
In 2008, she won the Paul Lyneham award for excellence in press gallery journalism, while in 2012 she was a Walkley award finalist in the best digital journalism category.
Gautam Mishra
Gautam Mishra is the CEO of inkl, a premium news service that unlocks articles from the world's best news titles.
Prior to inkl, Gautam was the director of strategy, data and research at Fairfax Media, where he launched and ran online subscriptions for the Sydney Morning Herald and the Age.
Gaven Morris
Gaven Morris has extensive experience as a news executive, news editor, reporter and producer. He spent almost a decade in international news, first at CNN in London as an online and television reporter, and as a roving international news producer and senior editor.
Prior to his appointment as Director ABC News in 2015, Gaven was Head of News Content for ABC News, a role that saw him overseeing all of ABC News’s digital and broadcast news output – scheduled television and radio news bulletins, News 24, NewsRadio, the Asia-Pacific News Centre and online and mobile news services.
His other previous roles include ABC National Editor for ABC News Online and ABC Head of Continuous News.
Simon Crerar
Simon Crerar is BuzzFeed's Australia Editor and leads an editorial team dedicated to growing the social news and entertainment company's Australian audience with viral content by and for Australians.
Prior to BuzzFeed, he worked at the Times and Sunday Times in London and at News Corp Australia. An innovative originator of compelling, shareable content, Simon's career has seen him interview Hollywood A-listers, live blog a Category 5 cyclone and report from maximum security prisons in Bangkok and Moscow.
