How are we educating children about puberty – and how well are schools, parents and carers equipped to help children cross this vital bridge to adulthood?
Host Madeleine Morris is joined by a panel of experts to discuss what to expect, and how to survive puberty today. Put your questions to Amanda Dunn, journalist and author of The New Puberty; adolescent psychologist and author Michael Carr-Gregg; and Benjamin Law, whose recent Quarterly Essay, Moral Panic 101, delved into the bruising ideological fight over Australia’s Safe Schools programme.

Benjamin Law
Benjamin Law is the author of The Family Law (2010), Gaysia (2012), the Quarterly Essay Moral Panic (2017) and editor of Growing Up Queer in Australia (2019). He's also an AWGIE Award-winning screenwriter who created and co-wrote three seasons of the award-winning TV series The Family Law (SBS/Hulu/Comedy Central Asia), wrote the sold-out mainstage play Torch the Place (Melbourne Theatre Company, 2020), and is co-executive producer, co-creator and co-writer on the forthcoming Netflix comedy-drama Wellmania. Every week, Benjamin co-hosts ABC Radio National's weekly national pop culture show Stop Everything! and interviews public figures for Good Weekend magazine (the Age/Sydney Morning Herald). He is a literary scout for Hachette Australia, board member of Story Factory, committee member of the Jesse Cox Audio Fellowship and ambassador for Plan Australia, the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, Victorian Pride Centre, Bridge for Asylum Seekers and the Pinnacle Foundation.

Michael Carr-Gregg
Dr Michael Carr-Gregg works as a nationally registered child and adolescent psychologist who is passionate about delivering evidence based psychology workshops and seminars that make a difference to the health and well-being of young people.
His training and approach incorporates cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness skills and interventions drawn from positive psychology research.
He is a founding member of the National Centre Against Bullying and Chairs their Cybersafety Committee. In October 2010 he was appointed the official advisor to the Queensland government on cybersafety.
He is a director of the The Young and Well Cooperative Research Centre, sits on the board of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, is a columnist for a number of publications, including New Idea and Girlfriend magazine, and is the parenting expert on Channel 7’s Sunrise as psychologist for the top rating Morning Show with Neil Mitchell on Fairfax Radio 3AW.
Amanda Dunn
Amanda Dunn is the politics and society editor for the Conversation. Prior to that, she was a reporter and editor with the Age for 16 years. She is the author of The New Puberty, released 2017.
