If you’re happy and you know it, well … perhaps it’s because of how you behave.
Paul Dolan is a social policy professor at the London School of Economics and, in his latest book, Happiness by Design: Finding Pleasure and Purpose in Everyday Life, he lays out a blueprint for a new outlook on happiness — and how to embody it. His case, which draws on philosophy and economics, is rooted in an examination of our behaviour and the way it makes us feel, offering a direct and uncomplicated approach to emotional well-being.
At the Wheeler Centre, Dolan will speak with Bernard Salt about our culture’s current obsession with happiness. He’ll discuss why thinking happy isn’t enough — and how we can each construct a route to contentment with practical, concrete solutions.
