With the proliferation of new media tools, Indigenous Australians are some of the most innovative new media users. They’re engaging previously overlooked communities and enabling citizens in new ways. We’ll talk about the new media revolution in Indigenous communication.

Jim Remedio
Jim Remedio is station manager at 3KND. Jim has 30 years’ experience in community and national radio media networks throughout Australia. He was chairman of the National Indigenous Media Association Australia and managed the establishment of the National Indigenous Radio Service, Remote Indigenous Media Services.
He has also held management positions with CAAMA, Radio Larrakia Darwin, Yamatji Media Carnarvon and QRAM Cairns.
Patricia Karvelas
Patricia Karvelas is a prominent Australian journalist, beginning her professional career at the ABC and SBS 20 years ago.
She currently presents Radio National’s flagship radio current affairs programme RN Breakfast. Patricia co-hosts the ABC’s popular weekly political podcast, The Party Room. She is acting host of the ABC TV Q+A program.
She has previously presented Afternoon Briefing on ABC news TV at 4pm every day.
Patricia has worked for the Australian as political correspondent in the Canberra press gallery. She was also employed as the Australian’s Victorian Bureau Chief and Editor, and Senior National Affairs Journalist.

Kelly Briggs
Kelly Briggs writes about First Australian issues from an intersectional feminist viewpoint. Kelly is a supporter of First Peoples Self Determination and has been published in the Guardian, New Matilda, Croakey and the Hoopla. She was the winner of Social commentary blog of the year 2014 by the Australian Writers Centre for her blog thekooriwoman.wordpress.com and is currently working on an anthology piece for Indigenous X.
