About

Fiona Hardy is the award-winning children’s author behind the beloved books How to Make a Movie in 12 Days, How to Write the Soundtrack of Your Life, and her latest, How to Tackle Your Dreams, is all about discovering your passions.

In How to Tackle Your Dreams, football tragic Homer feels distant from his friends, his family and his footy. Ever since his dad moved away and his mum was drafted in the Australian Rules women’s league, Homer has found himself spending more time fixing clothes with his grandfather than scoring goals with his friends. He’s looking for a way to get back to how things used to be and wondering what it means if he can’t.

These school holidays, Fiona will lead young writers through an action-packed writing masterclass focusing on all things footy, fiction and following your wildest dreams, wherever they lead. She’ll read from How to Tackle Your Dreams and share tips for crafting exciting action scenes – whether you’re writing about sports or knitting. Participants will brainstorm vivid descriptions to bring their stories to life, and then put them into practice through creative writing exercises. BYO writing tools and your wildest imagination!

This workshop is recommended for young writers aged 9-12 years old.
