The name Gonski has long been known and respected in business, arts and philanthropic circles. David Gonski AC is a former chairman of the Australia Council, and chairman of ANZ Banking Group, Coca-Cola Amatil and the Sydney Theatre Company. But when he released his Rudd Government-commissioned report into school funding in 2011, Gonski became a household name across Australia.
David Gonski joins Sally Warhaft for a conversation about his multifaceted career. His recently released book, I Gave a Gonski, Selected Speeches, is testament to the broad range of Gonski’s interests – and impact – beyond the world of business. It touches on subjects from gender diversity on boards and human rights to his own family heritage and, of course, education funding. In this rare, intimate glimpse into the life of one of Australia’s most successful people, Gonski will discuss his book, his career and his driving passions.

As a lawyer and corporate adviser, David Gonski has spent the last thirty-eight years advising and participating in business in Australia and in Asia. Gonski is Chairman of the ANZ Bank, Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd. and the Sydney Theatre Company, and Chancellor of the University of New South Wales. Gonski has participated in four reviews for the Australian federal government, the best known of which was the 'Gonski Review' into funding of schools in Australia.
