Across the globe, children are fleeing their homes – running from violence, poverty or war – and looking for a better life.

Caroline Brothers is an experienced foreign correspondent who has taken up the issue of unaccompanied, displaced children in her debut novel, Hinterland. It’s a story about what is happening right now, on our borders and in our own cities, ports and farmlands, but is largely unseen until we are sensitised to it. Caroline talks about those countless young people the world over who find themselves, underage, homeless and invisible in foreign lands.

Lunchbox/Soapbox is a simple idea: an old-fashioned Speakers’ Corner in the middle of the city, in the middle of the day.
