The Next Chapter supports a new wave of writers to develop their skills and writing from the ground up.
The Next Chapter celebrates writers who reflect the diversity of Australian identities and experiences, and offers opportunities to writers from marginalised communities. As such, grants in any given year are distributed amongst writers from a diversity of backgrounds.
We’ll keep this brief – but there are some things we need to know to decide if the person you're nominating is the right fit for The Next Chapter. The nomination form will need to be filled out with their assistance, as they will need to supply a writing sample and may opt to answer some of the extra questions at the bottom of this form.
Applications and nominations are now open until 5pm AEST Monday 10 August 2020.
The successful recipients will be announced in November 2020. All applicants will be informed of whether or not they were successful via email prior to the public announcement.
Applicants (or nominators) who require support to access the online application process should contact us well before 7 August 2020 to make alternative arrangements.
Applicants may be nominated by someone familiar with their work (that's you), or they can apply personally here. We recommend drafting your application in a separate document and saving it before you submit your application, to avoid losing your work.
You will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes of successfully submitting your nomination.
