What is The Wheeler Centre? 

The Wheeler Centre is Melbourne’s home for smart, passionate and entertaining public talks.  

We support writers, readers and thinkers. Through live and digital conversations, debates, readings, performances and discussions, our goal is to deepen public engagement with the most pressing topics of the day. Is The Wheeler Centre open to the public during business hours? 

Outside of our public events, our reception hours are by appointment only. To make an appointment, contact reception@wheelercentre.com. For information on how to access the Writers Victoria Library, visit their website. 

 

Can you offer advice on publishing or help me get published? 

The Wheeler Centre cannot offer you publishing advice. However, our resident organisation Writers Victoria can provide resources via their website and membership services.  

 

What fellowships and programs does The Wheeler Centre provide to writers? 

While we cannot provide direct referrals for writers to publishers or agents, we do offer opportunities for writers through the Hot Desk Fellowship and The Next Chapter program.  

 

Can The Wheeler Centre help connect me to book clubs, editors, illustrators and writers? 

We cannot provide support in referring you to book clubs, editors, illustrators and writers. However, for editing questions, please contact the Melbourne branch of the Institute of Professional Editors Limited (IPEd).

 

Can you please connect me with a previous guest presenter? 

While The Wheeler Centre does not provide any contact information from past presenters, you can find out more about them by searching our website.  

 

Does The Wheeler Centre offer internship and work experience opportunities?  

We are not offering internship or work experience opportunities at this point in time.

 

Can I provide suggestions to your Programming team?

Are The Wheeler Centre events recorded?

Yes, The Wheeler Centre aims to record and release as many of its events digitally for free after the event, either via our YouTube channel or our podcast. This is dependent on a number of factors and not always guaranteed. If you have any questions regarding access to digital events, please contact our ticketing team here.
