Elese Dowden

About

Elese Dowden is a Pākehā writer and recovering philosopher living on unceded Wurundjeri country. Elese was born in Tāmaki Makaurau in Aotearoa New Zealand, where she attended the University of Auckland, graduating with an MA in political philosophy before moving to Meanjin / Brisbane to complete a PhD at the University of Queensland on continental French philosophy, settler colonialism and historic injustice. Her poetry and literary reviews have been published in Cordite, Meanjin, Overland and Landfall, and her cross-disciplinary research interests include critical theory, French philosophy, and 20th Century literature and colonialism in Australasia. Elese is the founder of the Australasian Posthumanities, and an organiser for the Melbourne School of Literature.
