First Look: Williamstown’s New Library

Earlier today, Williamstown - in Melbourne’s inner Western suburbs - welcomed its new library. The project, which cost $8.1 million, offers 18 computers, iPads, gaming consoles, a gallery, meeting rooms and a cafe alongside its collection of books, DVDs and CDs. It also boasts extensive accessibility features and incorporates sustainable design including a 45,000 litre water tank.

We sent photographer (and area resident) Tony O'Loughlin to the new library for an early look. Here’s what he found.

You can find more about the new library’s design and construction here. The facility launches with a busy programme of activities. For details on opening hours and location, visit Hobsons Bay Libraries.
