Why should Melbourne get all the fun? It’s not like if you live east of the Dandenongs or west of Bacchus Marsh you’re not interested in Books, Writing and Ideas. So in 2012, we’re getting in the Tarago and bringing our great events across the state.
This August, we’re in Wangaratta with author Tony Birch, author of the acclaimed novel Blood. Tony will talk to ABC Radio’s Gaye Pattison about his most recent work and the power of storytelling.
Tony Birch is the author of Ghost River, which won the 2016 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing, and Blood, which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. He is also the author of Shadowboxing, and three short story collections – Father’s Day, The Promise and Common People.
Tony is a frequent contributor to ABC local and national radio, and a regular guest at writers’ festivals. He lives in Melbourne and is a Senior Research Fellow at Victoria University.
We can’t wait to get back on the road again – bringing some of our favourite writers to regional Victoria. We’ll be packing up the car with books and authors, travelling from country to coast … and making sure Melbourne doesn’t get all the literary fun. Look out for our bootful of books – coming to a town near you.
