Hands Up Who Wants to Die? The Fate of Endangered Species in the New Conservation Approach
On April 21st, Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett announced that the Orange-bellied Parrot is likely to go extinct in the wild within the next couple of years. That we could lose such an iconic species on Melbourne’s doorstep is tragic. That the new governmental landscape-scale approach to conservation could see many more endangered species being abandoned as hopeless causes is something more.
